Internal combustion engines produce power from a series of small, controlled explosions. Fuel and air are mixed to the optimal ratio, enter the chambers/cylinders, become compressed by the pistons, and are ignited by a small electrical spark. When this process is disrupted, the engine can’t perform well–if at all. Therefore, related repairs become necessary. These include spark plug/wire replacement, an ignition coil exchange, cylinder/cylinder head work, fuel injector cleaning/replacement, installing new piston rings, and mass air flow sensor change. Many of these repairs can be headed off or prolonged into the future with a good preventive maintenance plan, particularly regular oil changes.
